Other Wildlife
Barton Ridge also prides itself on the continuous habitat enhancements provided for other game and wildlife, particularly quail and pheasant, which live on the edges. Our fields, which resemble a small patchwork farming system, are managed for diversity with warm summer grasses and food patches/strips that consist of both food sources and cover crops.
The hedge rows provide excellent escape cover giving the birds everything they need to survive and thrive until harvested. Our anchor covey release system is a unique method of releasing flight conditioned quail into the wild as they acclimate to their new surroundings in order to mimic wild quail.
